| Being a pioneer to GWTA,
Evergreen Wings held the first official GWTA function in Washington State
in November of 1987. Since then, we have seen many motorcycle riding
seasons. This year, as in years past, our members are hosting fun
events, making friends, renewing friendships, and increasing motorcycle
skills and awareness. From a full printed schedule of events we
choose all or some of the following activities: motel runs, camp outs,
progressive dinners, mystery rides, weekly ice cream socials, quarterly
parties to celebrate members’ birthdays, other chapter rides and just
plain having a good time.
Over the years, Evergreen Wings’ major source of raising chapter funds has been in the form of annual dances. The themes have been Western Hoe Down, Hollywood Nights, 50’s Rock and Roll Sock hop, and Valentines Sweetheart. Music has been disc jockey, karaoke, or live band. In 1997, we tried something new. It was quite a success with many comments heard of repeat visits by members throughout many GWTA chapters if done again. That’s right, Evergreen Wings’ (Chapter C's) fun (Cockeyed) ride (Cruise) and salmon barbeque (Cookout). In 2005 we decided to put our fundraising efforts toward supporting "Christmas House of Snohomish County" who provide Christmas gifts in the form of toys and clothing for the children of low income families. Chapter members also donated their time in assisting the families as they shopped through the thousands of donated and purchased items for their children. Evergreen Wings also hosted an annual mall exhibition at the Everett Mall until 2006, the oldest continuous motorcycle mall show in Washington State. This exhibition was designed to promote motorcycling and GWTA. The exhibition was a three day event and was filled with fun (pranks), friends, and good times. With the help of our friends from Chapters B, D, E, H, M, and X, we had many beautiful motorcycles on display. NOTE: The mall managers told us that we were the second largest draw of people to the mall, second only to Christmas. We never made it to number one but weren't surprised! Members of Chapter C along with members from many other Puget Sound area chapters come together annually for one of our favorite events, the successful and popular Teddy Bear Tour. The purpose of this annual event is to collect teddy bears (or other cuddly toys) to donate to emergency response teams; it's become quite a trademark to motorcycling. The teddy bears collected at this event go to help children (and some times adults) who are victims of violent crimes, lost, or traumatized by accident, fire, or any time the responding officer/fireman feels the bears would help. GWTA's goal is to have a constant supply in every emergency response vehicle. What do you like best about your chapter? The people! Destination Friendship is the motto for GWTA, but Destination Fun is the target for Chapter C. We're having a ball, please join us whenever you're in our area. The Blue Crew Family
